This is a NSW Replica or Heritage Dome Roof telephone box used from 1970 - today. These phone boxes are made up of thinner wood panels being lighter and easier to handle than the original flag models. The entire backboard is made from plywood to allow for ct3 model payphones to be installed. This particular model featured the same lime green backing as the earlier asbestos dome roof box but with a dark green spray effect instead of the dappled effect for the internal paintwork. These boxes also have rounded wooden beading around the windows and usually come with a more modern type of aluminium door closer. The roof on this box was made from fibreglass in which there are 2 grades of thickness. These were produced to replace the older asbestos roofs hence the term "replica" as they are in fact as original as any other telephone box ever produced. The phone box was used in areas of significant historical value and were made in the lowest production numbers of any model with only about 25 made for use in NSW and possibly less than 50 Australia wide.
